“The Call Committee recommends to Church Council that a call be issued to Sara Faulhafer to be the full time pastor for Bethany Lutheran, Woodstock, with a compensation package to be determined. ... Carried unanimously.”

*Note:  The decision was ratified at a Congregational Meeting on July 5, 2009.

“The church council of Bethany Lutheran Church supports Dale and Hooper Hadland on their mission to work in Iquitos, Peru.  Members may make donations to the project and funds collected of up to $500.00 will be used by Bethany to purchase Lutheran Books of Worship in Spanish for Dale and Hooper to distribute.  All other monies will be submitted to Rotary International, Stratford Chapter, to purchase additional medical supplies. ...”

“Energy Survey        --the possibility of having Solar Panels installed onto the flat roof of the building was discussed. ...also the possibility of extending the front doors of the church to face the parking lot and to have ramp and easy accessibility into the church.”

--“75th Anniversary was discussed.  Pastors  Cronmiller and  Lange to take part.  Pastor Holm if available.  ‘It was suggested that former members write down memories from earlier times and share them at the service or dinner.”

“Pastor Sara participated in the following events: St. David’s Book Club, Old St. Paul’s Lenten service as guest preacher, London Conference clergy cluster with a presentation on World Council of Churches;  Waterloo Lutheran Seminary contextual class, ‘Street’ ministry as guest speaker, Christians of Woodstock Breakfast meeting, SOC Youth Retreat, Maundy Thursday at Good Shepherd and the ELW Spring Conference held at Bethany.”

*City has an area for a community garden where interested Bethany members could have a plot.”

“Bethany has been asked to host the 2011 Spring Conference.  Council picked April 30, 2011 as the date.”

              New Business

“St. David’s United Church will be borrowing the portable projector and laptop for use at the joint Vacation Bible School.”

 

 

 

June 13, 2010.

“The National Church has written a social statement on human sexuality....There will be a discussion of the statement at the July 16th Pub Night.  Comments will be forwarded to the National Church.”

“Cindy moved that the ‘Keep Bethany Beautiful Yard Maintenance Fund’ be approved.  Laura seconded.  Carried.”

“I have been asked to serve with three community groups: Habitat for Humanity Family Selection & Support Committee, Waterloo Lutheran Seminary Worship Arts and Design Team, co-ordinating special events and Chaplain for Operation Sharing’s Inn Out Of The Cold program.”

Oct. 3, 2010.

“Microfit—there is a need to pay for preparatory work which includes an engineer.  The congregation has already voted to pursue looking into the project.”

“Council approved expenditures of $1,000.00 for engineering review of roof.”

Oct.3, 2010.    Council and Committee Retreat held at Inga Hansen’s home. “Committee Structure—mandates of committees outline briefly.”

 

 

Oct. 25, 2010.

Church Council has called a special congregational meeting to be held on Sunday, November 7th following worship.  This will be a short meeting to ask the congregation’s permission to proceed with the installation of rooftop solar panels through the Micro Fit project and explain financing.”

“Louis [Eckert] reported that the starting point for the cost is $75,000.00.”

Oct. 24 (previous)

“The Finance Committee recommends to Church Council that a loan at prime from Rochdale Credit Union using our GICs as collateral be applied for, in order to finance the installation and implementation of the solar energy program. Carried.”

*Note” On Nov. 7 the motion passed 41 to 4.

              Treasurer’s Report

“It is my pleasure to report that Bethany has completed another year with an operational surplus.  To Bethany’s committees, Thank You for carefully managing our expenditures.  2011 may be financially challenging, but will also be very exciting as we progress with the Solar Project and the Building Enhancement Project.  May Bethany continue to be blessed with strong financial support.            --Louis Eckert.”
